After three years the much longed for second album from Nilla Nielsen is here. SHELLSHOCKED is written and produced by Nilla Nielsen and it brings us on a captivating journey. This album is a bit heavier and has more of a live feeling to it than her first singer/songwriter album Redemption Sky. Compelling lyrics and Nillas personal voice together with a great liveband is a suggestive formula. With greatest focus on the state of the world, environmental and social issues, how we people treat each other and this beautiful planet that is our only home, she shakes and lifts us in the rocky titel track Shellshocked, compassionate Liquid Gold, Eutopia, Glow and Just Dont Want To Talk About It. Fragile but hopeful Fairytales and Dreams which completes this amazing album is as close and intimate as you can get. Gentle cello, acoustic guitar, bass, etherical keyboard flowing around Nillas warm voice leaves noone unmoved. New album from Nilla Nielsen "I dont think that I alone can save the world with my music but if I can touch one person, inspire, lift somebody, then I have succeded. Music is universal and everything we do affects the world somehow, Nilla says with a smile. There is a dramatic explanation to why it has been three relatively quiet years since Nilla released her debut album on her own record company Gecko Music in late 2004. Shortly after she travelled to Thailand to find strength in her favourite element amongst sharks, dolphins and other marine friends and was badly injured in the tsunami in Phi Phi Islands. She was sick for more than a year and the experience has of course also affected her creative work. The moving song Black Water with its mantra-like chorus fills the listener like a beautiful prayer dedicated to all those who lost their lives in the tsunami. Nilla is now back stronger than ever and eager to play the live scenes as it is where she belongs. A band of great musicians have become Nillas companions and their sound is a mix of rebellious rawness and sensitive softness inspired by the likes of U2, Hendrix, Alanis Morissette, Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman. Many festivals are booked for the summer and a Germany tour is in the planning. Media in Sweden have called Nilla Nielsen their own Bono and she has also been compared to female artists like Sheryl Crow, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette. Short history: Nilla started Gecko Music in 2004 and released her debut album "Redemption Sky". Nilla revealed her soul in her personal songs and reflections of the world and critics were lyrical. Shortly after, 26 december 2004 she was badly injured in the tsunami in Thailand and a long and difficult period of illness followed. 2005 disappeared for Nilla and the fantastic album Redemption Sky sunk into oblivion.Since then Nilla has spent many nights in her studio and the result that you hear on SHELLSHOCKED is overwhelming, captivating and voulnerable. Described as really, really great, personal and daring by professionals in the music industry. 2007 wrote the song "Hymn for Orangutan" for Borneo Orangutan Survival. Nilla was given the honourable titel ambassadour for BOS and is speaker on their information film. Played charity concerts for Amnesty, Helping Hand och Djurens Ratt (Animal Rights) etc. Music video for the song "Shellshocked" made with fantastic footage courtsey of Greenpeace.
