Paper Sky is a quirky Anglo Italian Experimental Rock/Pop Band from Bologna, Italy formed at the end of 2007. The band was born out of a passion for diverse music ranging from Sor to ACDC and Radiohead via Debussy and a mutual appreciation of Big Hair. Formed by Riccardo Almagro and Florence Donovan (the Big Hairs), the band originally started life as an acoustic duo with most of 2006 spent writing arranging & playing low key gigs. At the beginning of 2007 they started putting their songs to tape in the living room of a house in Bologna. Microphones were held up in the garden grabbing the rain & thunder that you hear in Solitude Landing, Nail biting solos were performed amidst the debris of childrens toys and numerous plates of pasta con broccoli and vats of red wine were consumed. They needed help! Enter Roberto on drums and Domenico "Lo Zio" on bass and Paper Sky was born. The band started gigging as a fully formed “unit” (not the kitchen variety) at the beginning of 2008- playing at various Italian Rock festivals, bars, pubs, clubs and village fetes. They organised a UK mini tour at the beginning of November 08 and played 5 nights in places such as the Dublin Castle, Bull & Gate and Half Moon. Off the back of that they were offered a gig at the Natural History Museum in Dec 08 where they supported Bryan Ferry. 2009 began with a series of gigs in Italy (see dates below) and another three date visit to London where they stormed the Dublin Castle(thankyou everyone who was there!). They have taken some time out from Gigs this Summer to work on their first EP and are also working on an Italian project with some big names which will be released nationwide at the end of 2009.
